An update to yesterday’s story about Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira winning an international recall comes courtesy of the Evening Standard this morning. In-form Rodrigo Muniz is being watched by new Brazil boss Dorival Junior ahead of next month’s friendly matches against England and Spain.

Dorival, who will name his first squad since taking over from Fernando Deniz next week, is known to be an admirer of Pereira’s silky skills and ESPN Brazil revealed that the former Manchester United number ten held talks with the former Sao Paulo head coach at Motspur Park last week. The Standard’s Dom Smith reports that Muniz, who has scored four goals in three games this month, could be in line for a first senior international call-up having taken his first-team opportunity in the absence of the injured Raul Jimenez.

Dorival is expected to offer opportunities to uncapped European-based players and watched Fulham train at Motspur Park yesterday before meeting Pereira and Muniz in person. Fulham head coach Marco Silva praised the former Flamengo forward ahead of the weekend trip to Manchester United:

“Rodrigo got his chance and stepped in and showed his quality. He’s had spells in the season where he hasn’t scored, or injuries have stopped his run, but now he’s playing well and I’m really happy for him.”
