The Football Association have this afternoon ruled out punishing Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno after he pushed a ball boy during the 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Boxing Day because referee Tim Robinson dealt with the incident at the time.
The German international pushed the ball boy as he sought to retrieve a ball to take a goal kick with the Whites 2-0 heading into the closing stages at the Vitality Stadium. Leno later apologised for his actions and Robinson included in his referee’s report that he had instructed the head of stewarding to remove all the ball boys from the perimeter of the pitch after the incident occurred.
I should thing so to ,hardly a push. And the ball boy loved every Minuit of it smiling lapping up all the attention . Media making mounting out of mole hill
Spoiled little brat should not be a ball boy time waster the referee was right to remove the cheats.
It’s crazy how blinkered fans can be sometimes when it’s their own team. Yes he did push him, yes he was 100% wrong to do so. Marco is in fact completely wrong to be saying in interviews that he didn’t. There’s standing up for your players, and there’s being wrong.
It doesn’t matter that the ball boy was intentionally timewasting, and it doesn’t matter that he enjoyed the attention and didn’t mind. There’s a right way to deal with things, and a wrong way. Bernd got too worked up and chose the wrong one. But he was right to apologise, and the referee dealt with it appropriately too, so it’s right there should be no formal punishment.
The kid was lucky. I remember one lad getting kicking for holding on to the ball, I think it was at Reading?
Leno has had two sh*t games in a row and showed his frustration. Unfortunately the boy was on the receiving end of it.
Hope Bournemouth have told the child to do the job he was supposed to do and give the ball to the goalkeeper rather than having to take the ball off of him
