Fulham have began contract renewal discussions with Harrison Reed after rejecting a derisory offer for the midfielder from Wolverhampton Wanderers towards the end of the transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

The former Southampton midfielder has become a regular in Marco Silva’s side and thrived in a new role as a box-to-box operator since the Portuguese head coach replaced Scott Parker at Craven Cottage. The 28 year-old is into the final twelve months of his current Fulham deal and is happy to renew his contract with the Whites if Fulham’s offer recognises his improvement since his arrival in SW6, initially on loan in 2019.

The energetic engine room operator has made 150 appearances for Fulham, who immediately rejected Wolves’ £4m offer last Thursday. Reed, who has inherited the ‘Ginger Iniesta’ moniker from Steve Sidwell, also attracted interest from Everton at the end of the transfer window but the Cottagers are keen to keep him stay at the club. The club’s hierarchy are relaxed about his future – as they can trigger a twelve-month extension option next summer – and believe preliminary discussions have been positive.
