Fulham have rejected a £47m offer from Bayern Munich for their defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
The German giants are seeking a new holding midfielder in the final hours of the transfer window and Thomas Tuchel has reportedly placed the Portuguese international at the top of his target list. Fulham have insisted that the 28 year-old, who had a sensational first season in England as the Whites finished tenth on their return to the top flight, is not for sale and head coach Marco Silva dismissed rumours that the midfielder had missed training this morning.
Silva has already lost star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic earlier in this window and Fulham are said to be sticking to a valuation of more than £80m that scuppered West Ham United’s interest in the former Sporting Lisbon man earlier this summer. The Londoners feel they are in a strong position, with Palhinha under contract at Craven Cottage until at least 2027 and enjoying working under the coach who nurtured his talent as a young player at Sporting.
If he leaves we’re back square one and it’s Championship next year unless recruitment have a 1:1 replacement lined up. I really doubt that. At the moment we’re chasing players, that used to play for Silva at other clubs, which could only mean that recruitment is clueless.
What happened to not for sale!!
If he says “I want to leave for Bayern Munich and have champions league football this season” Fulham will have little choice but to let him go. It’s the reality of him/us having a great last season. All this backwards and forwards is just posturing to up the price. Iwobi is on his way and Palhina is almost out the door. The days of players devoting themselves to a club are long gone. Money talks I’m afraid.
If he wants to go to Germany. Tell him he can go in 3 years time and in the meantime stick him
The reserves and make him train with the under 18s. And after that sell him.
We had better not let Palhina leave he is iraplaceable and I thought he was happy here tell the Germans where to go.
We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Daddy Khan might need the cash to finish his white elephant stand.
The German League transfer deadline time is effectively 11.00 am tomorrow and the transfers have to be completed by 17.00. So if no deal is done by then, Joao’s not going to Germany. It does rule Liverpool however.
We were told he would not be sold for less than 80 million so lets stick to that price.and not sell him for less He is undera long term contract. He is our most valuable player and is in my opinion irreplaceable especially so near to the end of the transfer window. I fear a relegation struggle without him

Just seen Marco Silva on Sky Sports he does not seem happy when asked about Palinha he said something about what’s going on in the background could not understand the interview I don’t know what’s going on why are we selling players Silva has stated he needs five players at least this Palinha situation is possibly the last straw for Silva I certainly am not happy as a supporter for over 60 years have the hierarchy at our club got no Bxxxs to tell these teams to get lost we seem to roll over and play dead this could be a special time for our club and our very loyal supporters would like TK to be more accountable especially to people who have bought season tickets for the new stand
Not just about this situation, but it just high lights that we need a proper director of football! Perhaps we could use the cash generated from sales to recruit a best in practice DOF.
That being said, I hope this sale doesn’t mean relegation come may.
What is the point of A 4or 5 year contract if we just roll over when our players say they want to leave after 1 year, the only way to stop this is to tell the players that they can play for the reserves until their contract expires, they have no commitment or loyalty to the club so we have to make a stand, i am sick to death of all these greedy players and unless we do this it will never change. I too have supported Fulham for 60 years and if this continues I will not be supporting any more.
And now we are being linked to a 33 year old M’vila to replace Palhina ha ha ha ha ha ha sack our recruitment team they haven’t got a clue.
what might have been very smart is selling Joao to Bayern in return for 30-million AND Gravenberch to replace him
I think the transfer window should stop when the season starts that’s it then we would have him till January,, then maybe just have the one window then you would see who the good managers are ie manage the players you’ve bought in the Summer window and maybe start using your academies a bit more,Palinha is a Special player there’s nobody like him in the Premiership he will be very hard to replace yet still nobody is bigger than our club we will take this on the chin and move on I think that’s why Marco looked pxxxxd off on Sky I don’t know what Input he has had in this probably nothing don’t be surprised if he walks sooner than later but money talks at the end or the day
🙁
Well said Keith. Transfer window should close a week before the season begins. Poor Marco he won’t know until 16 hours before kick off at Man City which players he has left to pick from. What happened to the proceedure of a prospective buyer asking the clubs permission to speak to a player. It seems nowadays they make an agreement with a player and then approach the club. The player then totally disregards the contract he was happy to sign and exerts pressure on the club to let him go. IS THERE ANY POINT HAVING A CONTRACT???????
He has a contract. He must be kept at all cost, and the club should find ways to not just keep him, but keep him happy. Money helps, and he’s living in the best part of London, not gloomy Liverpool. Pahlinha is Fulham at this moment in time.
