Fulham have rejected a £47m offer from Bayern Munich for their defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The German giants are seeking a new holding midfielder in the final hours of the transfer window and Thomas Tuchel has reportedly placed the Portuguese international at the top of his target list. Fulham have insisted that the 28 year-old, who had a sensational first season in England as the Whites finished tenth on their return to the top flight, is not for sale and head coach Marco Silva dismissed rumours that the midfielder had missed training this morning.

Silva has already lost star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic earlier in this window and Fulham are said to be sticking to a valuation of more than £80m that scuppered West Ham United’s interest in the former Sporting Lisbon man earlier this summer. The Londoners feel they are in a strong position, with Palhinha under contract at Craven Cottage until at least 2027 and enjoying working under the coach who nurtured his talent as a young player at Sporting.
