Fulham have held positive discussions with the representatives of Fiorentina centre back Igor Julio and will make an offer for the Brazilian centre back shortly, according to reports in Italy.

The 25 year-old has been told he can leave the Europa Conference League finalists this summer and Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport claims that Julio is keen to move to England having spent the last four years in Italy. Journalist Lorenzo Lepore revealed earlier this evening that the Whites remain the most concrete option for Julio, with Villarreal and Nice apparently tracking the centre half’s availability.

Fiorentina are keen to cash in on Fulham’s interest with Julio about to enter the final twelve months of his contract at the Viola. The Minas Gerais-born defender has made 110 appearances for Fiorentina since signing from SPAL, initially on loan, in January 2020. He had fallen down Vincenzo Italiano’s pecking order but finished the season strongly at the Artemio Franci, making 44 appearances in all competitions as I Gigliati finished eighth in Serie A and were beaten both by West Ham in the Conference League final and Inter in the Coppa Italia final.

Marco Silva has spoken of the need to make swift summer signings as he looks to built on the momentum Fulham generated by finishing tenth on their return to the Premier League and the Cottagers head coach is eager to strengthen at centre back.
