Fulham are confident of agreeing a new contract with their teenage prospect Fabio Carvalho, according to the Athletic’s Peter Rutzler.

The young playmaker has made a terrific start to life in the Championship after impressing when introduced to the first team by Scott Parker following Fulham’s relegation from the top flight. He has scored twice in three games – including a brilliant winner as the Whites extended their unbeaten start to the new season with victory at Millwall last night.

The 18 year-old is into the final year of his current Craven Cottage contract and reportedly turned down Fulham’s first offer of an extension in June, with a number of clubs – including Leeds, West Ham, Norwich and Porto – closely monitoring his availability. But the club are now confident that recent discussions could prove fruitful, with Carvalho’s strong relationship with new head coach Marco Silva thought to be particularly persuasive.
