Fulham are confident of completing their capture of Swansea skipper Matt Grimes next week, according to the Daily Mail.

The Whites are in pole position to land the 26 year-old midfielder, who has entered the final year of his current contract at the Liberty Stadium. The fee is believed to be in the region of £4m. But Grimes, who has made 157 appearances in six years in south Wales, had to isolate after a coronavirus outbreak in the Swansea camp which delayed a medical that had been pencilled in for last week.

Fulham believe they can hold off reported interest from Burnley and Watford in the former Exeter City midfielder and make Grimes Marco Silva’s third summer signing in the coming days. Silva’s side started with academy graduates Tyrese Francois and Fabio Carvalho in midfield this afternoon as they beat League One Charlton Athletic in their final pre-season friendly at Craven Cottage.
