Fulham’s Premier League survival bid has been dealt a huge blow after new signing Joachim Andersen suffered an ankle injury in training and is set to miss at least a month’s worth of action.
The Danish international defender, signed on a season-long loan from Lyon earlier this month, picked up the injury this week at Motspur Park – meaning that his debut, anticipated to have been against Sheffield United in a crunch match at Bramall Lane this weekend, will now be delayed.
Fulham manager Scott Parker told his press conference this afternoon:
He’s damaged his ankle in training over the last couple of days so he will be out for the foreseeable future really. I wouldn’t want to put a timescale on it but it’s going to be some weeks. We’re disappointed of course because we had him for two days, we see his quality but we’re going to be without him for a little time and hopefully we’ll get him right, get him rehabbed and get him back to being part of the team.
What happened with Kongolo?
So what happened to Kongolo – it’s all gone quiet….?
Have we signed Kongolo ? I thought it was a done deal, so what has happened? We need him to replace Anderson now.
Parker and his scouting team are at present in all A & E
departments looking for the walking wounded for our next game
Quite unbelievable, last time Kongolo got injured after what 2 games, Mawson got injured doing up his boots and now Andersen after only 2 days – FFC are the graveyard for CB’s. Cannot believe how unlucky we are, we took the whole of the transfer period to get in CB and one of them is done before he even got to play.
Parker must be wondering what he has done to deserve this!!
You could not make this up could you what is going on,one minute Kongolo is having a medical how long does a medical take we seem to have accident prone CBs can Kongolo play on Sunday?if not, Adarbioyo will have baptism of fire just when I thought we may have a chance I really hope this comes back and bites Tony Khan on the Arse, I feel for Scott Parker big time
Make no mistake-this is a massive loss. This guy could have really made the difference between survival and a continuation of our defensive woes.
Something really doesn’t add up though. Parker says that the injury occurred “over the last couple of days” yet also says “we had him for two days”. This is a clear contradiction as the player should have had a fortnight’s training at Motspur under his belt by now.
If the injury occurred after only a couple of days, it fully explains the chase to bring in Kongolo which, up until now, made zero sense as it would have given us 7 centre backs plus Mawson out on loan.
In my opinion, the whole lot of them together couldn’t match the qualities that Anderson brought to the back line.
Another Tony Khan balls up!!
