Fulham have made an offer for Cardiff City full-back Joe Bennett, according to various reports this afternoon.

Slavisa Jokanovic is eager to bring in another left back after selling Scott Malone to Huddersfield earlier this summer and offer competition to teenage starlet Ryan Sessegnon. The Serbian head coach has returned to a familiar source of his left backs – having taken Malone to London from Cardiff in exchange for Welsh international Jazz Richards – with Bennett tipped to be the next departure as Neil Warnock looks to reshape his squad in the final fortnight of the summer transfer window.

The 27 year-old, who has played hundreds of games at Championship level after emerging from the Middlesbrough academy, has made 27 appearances for the Bluebirds since signing from Aston Villa last August, scoring three goals. The former England under-21 international was replaced by Richards for the final half an hour of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Bennett had previously made 85 appearances on Teesside becoming a mainstay of the Middlesbrough side before making a big-money move to the Midlands in August 2012, although his time at Villa did not go according to plan. He spent a season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion and helped Sheffield Wednesday to the play-off final in 2016 – before seeing a permanent move to Hillsborough blocked by new Villa owner Tony Xia.
