Texan midfielder Emerson Hyndman was a surprise debutant on the opening day of the 2014/2015 season at Ipswich Town, but his technical ability had impressed Felix Magath during pre-season. The American took the travails of a traumatic campaign firmly in his stride and featured under both Kit Symons and Slavisa Jokanovic, scoring his only senior goal for the Whites against Cardiff City in April 2016 to grab a win that secured their place in the Championship for the following season. Hydman had left by the time that campaign kicked off, persuaded to move to Bournemouth by then US national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
