The Watford Observer carried an interesting interview with Fulham winger Alex Kacaniklic, currently on loan at Vicarage Road, in which he insisted that his best form is still ahead of him despite changing the game against Burnley last week.

The Swedish winger, who has been on the fringes of the first-team squad after a fine spell with the reserve side this season, joined the Championship club on loan at the end of January and has been featured regularly since then. He came off the bench to great effect against Burnley on Saturday, scoring his first senior goal, as Watford wiped out a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. The former Liverpool wide man was handed a start at West Ham in midweek and he turned in another impressive display.

To score my first goal, well what a feeling. It was a great feeling to score in front of the fans and then we went on to win the game by turning it around after a good second half. I am in the side to try to help the team get going but the whole team played really well second half.

Having now made eight appearances for the Hornets, Kacaniklic hopes that he can build on his bright start.

It is not easy to just come and play in the Championship, it is different to what I am used to, but I am getting better game-by-game. I am getting more into it; the tempo and what I am required to do. I am going to keep going and there is more to come.

I am happy to be here and hopefully I am here until the end of the season. I just want to keep playing games and win every game we can.

The 20 year-old has also backed his Fulham team-mate Marcello Trotta to come good on loan at Watford. The Italian striker has so far struggled to replicate his extraordinary goalscoring exploits from when he was at Wycombe earlier in the season but Kacaniklic believes, once Trotta gets used to the style of the Championship, he’ll find the net with regularity.

We are good friends off the pitch and we play well together on the pitch. We have played well together at Fulham and hopefully we can now do it here. He is a goalscorer and he will score goals, I am telling you.
