LOOK!

A Fulham player in an England (training) shirt! Talking to the manager! A sight not seen since Jimmy Bullard was invited by Capello to join the squad in 2006, but not used (possibly on account of his knees being held together with Blu-takā„¢).

What did surprise me, following some extensive internet research, is that the last time a Fulham player actually played for England it was young Zat Knight, now of Bolton. No offence to Zat but I honestly thought I was going to have to go back to the 60s, so sporadic is Fulham’s relationship with the Three Lions. Zat played in two friendlies in May 2005 – against Columbia and the USA, a team which included Fulham faves as McBride, Dempsey and Bocanegra. England won both.

That’s gotta be a good omen, right?
