The shortest of statements on the Fulham website was enough for the club to satisfy the new Football League directive on agents’ fee. It doesn’t tell us very much but says that Fulham paid just under £1.5m to agents. Some £929,000 relates to fees’ paid in 2007-08 or before those dates.

A quick check on the other teams shows that Fulham were relatively small spenders, perhaps a legacy from the fallout after the Marlet deal. Indeed, if you take out the promoted clubs for this season, Fulham were the league’s second lowest spenders. Manchester City spent an astounding £12.8m – with the league in total managing to spend over £70m.
