Arsenal Wenger has ruled out a move for Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.

The Gunners have been linked with the Norwegian centre back for much of the summer and Arsenal’s need for defensive reinforcements is well-known, but Wenger ended the transfer saga when asked if he was interested in taking the tall defender to the Emirates.

“We are not on this [Hangeland’s] case,” Wenger said.

Arsenal have been linked with a plethora of players since the inception of the current transfer window, but have thus far only bought Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen, who has looked impressive in the few games that he has featured in.
