The Guardian features the Fulham captain in a list of six underrated footballers. He’s certainly not underappreciated at Craven Cottage, although the article strangely ignores his renaissance by the River Thames to focus on the folly of Rafa Benitez selling him at Liverpool.

Murphy’s influence at Fulham remains huge and, with his current role in this Hodgson system, you can easily see him featuring in the midfield for the Whites for many years to come. He didn’t fit in a number of Premier League sides after leaving Anfield but their loss is definitely Fulham’s gain.
