Roy was on good form in an interview with Sky Sports News earlier on. He gave a very thorough assessment of Damien Duff’s quality before he was moved on (inevitably) to Brede Hangeland. Hodgson sounded more upbeat than I’ve heard him before on keeping hold of the Norwegian, although predictably Sky’s website have chosen to ignore his penetrating broadside at their expense:

He is happy here. There has been speculation, and furthermore a lot of the speculation I have been able to quash. But it doesn’t stop the speculation getting around. But we have had no offers for Brede Hangeland. No club is showing signs of wanting to take him from us and we are very happy about that.

I don’t think that is because clubs don’t think he is any good, quite the opposite. We know his value and at the moment I presume clubs are accepting that he is not for sale at the prices they would be prepared to pay.
