Rumour has it that the American defender is keeping Birmingham waiting as he hopes for a move to Fulham.
Since the guy’s agent reckons he’s turned down Fulham for Real Madrid in the past, I think we should take any claim of his with an extremely large pinch of salt. Besides, he wasn’t all that impressive at Newcastle in his previous spell as a Premier League defender.
I would suggest watching the Confederations Cup. He’ll be defending some of the top talent in the world (the US gets Italy, followed by Brazil in the group stages). And to say he wasn’t impressive at Newcastle – that’s hilarious. He had a two month loan at a terrible team. He’s improved tremendously ever since.
Plus, he’s on a free. Why wouldn’t we want him?
I have to agree that his performance at the Confederations Cup will be key, the same for Landon Donovan, IMO. If they do well, I think we may see a flurry of activity in another week’s time.
