Bobby’s been defending his poor goal return in the Daily Star.
The goals haven’t been coming but it’s sort of a different role I have to play – it’s not all-out attack. Every other part of my game has been good – holding the ball up, bringing other people into play.
If I’m not scoring, I’m setting someone else up. That’s good enough for me and, as long as we win, I couldn’t care less.
In a neat bit of irony, Sky have listed Zamora’s first goalscorer odds against Everton underneath this story. 9-1 seems a bit generous, especially as he’s unlikely to start given the form of Kamara and Nevland. Let’s not forget that AJ will be desperate to find the net against his former employers too.
I do feel a bit sorry for Bobby. He’s obviously been giving it his best and can’t have been helped by the fact that we don’t have conventional wingers who will get to the byline and whip in a cross. When we’ve done that (for the winner against Swansea and in the game against West Brom), he’s finished a couple of goals nicely. I’m not sure he’ll be a regular starter next season but he doesn’t deserve all the grief he’s been getting.
