Fulham striker Brian McBride has signed a one-year contract which will keep him at the club until summer 2007.

The 33-year-old’s current deal was set to expire at the end of the season but Fulham have moved to extend the US international’s stay at Craven Cottage.

McBride has scored 10 goals this season and Fulham boss Chris Coleman said “I cannot speak highly enough about the player.

“He has probably been one of our most impressive and consistent this season.”

McBride will be part of his country’s squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany this summer and had spells at Everton and Preston before being signed by Fulham in January 2004 from American club Columbus Crew.

Coleman added: “Brian is a consummate professional who always gives 100% whether it’s on the training pitch or in a game, and it’s a pleasure to have him in my squad.”
