Republic of Ireland international Terry Phelan joined Fulham in February 2000 after his contract at Crystal Palace had expired. He provided dependable competition for Rufus Brevett at left back and scored twice in nineteen appearances but after the former QPR defender became Jean Tigana’s first choice, Phelan was released in the summer of 2001 with the Whites preparing for the Premier League.
