Fulham cancel Voser’s contract

Fulham have announced that defender Kay Voser has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Cottagers in 2014 following their relegation from the Premier League, featured regularly at the start of the 2015-16 campaign, but has played just once since the departure of former manager Kit Symons in November.

With first-team chances limited at Craven Cottage, Voser has been playing for the club’s Under-21 side in recent weeks.

The former Switzerland Under-21 international was due to be a free agent in the summer, having penned a two-year deal when he signed from Grasshoppers.

Fulham, who recently appointed Slavisa Jokanovic as Symons’s successor, have won just once in their last 15 league outings, leaving the side 19th in the Championship table.

Voser on his way out?

Kay Voser is heading for the exit door at Fulham.

It has all gone south for the 27-year-old Swiss defender since he joined the Whites in July on a two-year deal for a fee of about £400,000.

A return to his own country is on the cards for a player that boss Kit Symons admits is surplus to requirements.

Voser has made only four appearances for Fulham, in which he picked up two yellow cards.

The last was back in September as Whites suffered a 3-0 defeat to Reading and there’s no room at the inn – or rather the Cottage.

Symons added: “Kay’s back in training with the group now. When I took over the group was too big. We had to make some calls that didn’t necessarily suit everyone.

“So he’s been left out a little bit, but I’m conscious that players need to go out and play football. If there was a loan option that came up that suited him and suited us, I would look at it and for other players that aren’t featuring.”

Fulham add Voser

Championship club Fulham have signed Basel defender Kay Voser for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old has agreed a two-year contract at Craven Cottage, with an option for a further year.

The former Switzerland Under-21 international began his senior career at Grasshopper Club Zurich and moved on to Basel in 2011.

Voser made 28 league appearances last season and featured eight times in the Champions League.

He is Fulham’s fourth signing following their relegation from the Premier League. Felix Magath has already brought in defender Shaun Hutchinson, full back Tim Hoogland and Australian striker Adam Taggart in a busy summer.
