Fulham’s under 21s will face Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Peterborough United in the group phase of the EFL Trophy after the draw was conducted this lunchtime.
The Whites were drawn in Group H of the southern section of the competition. Fulham were eliminated at the group stage of the tournament last season, having lost to MK Dons, been beaten on penalties by Stevenage and beaten Wycombe Wanderers.
Fulham’s campaign will get underway on Tuesday 8th September when they travel to Cambridge United, kicking off at 7.45pm. The Whites will then face Peterborough United on Tuesday 6th October at 7.45pm before finishing the group stage against Burton Albion on Tuesday 10th November – again with a 7.45pm kick off.
Calum Willock has joined Peterborough on loan and Posh boss Barry Fry has already indicated that he would like to turn the transfer into a permanent move.
The young striker, who has made substitute appearances for Fulham, has amassed plenty of lower-league loan experience with spells at tenants QPR and Bristol Rovers, whom he joined earlier this season. Willock is expected to make his debut for United against Torquay in the LDV Vans Trophy on Wednesday evening.
Fry said: “His outstanding pace will be a real asset at our level. He has not been given much of a chance at Fulham and it’s a month’s loan with a view to a permanent move. Hopefully he can fit in very quickly and we can persuade him to join us after the loan.”
