Napoli make loan move for Anguissa

Napoli have made contact with Fulham about the possibility of taking Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on loan, according to reports from Italy tonight.

The Cameroon international has been widely tipped to leave Craven Cottage in the closing days of the summer transfer window, with several Serie A clubs reportedly interested in signing him. Jose Mourinho’s Roma had been considered the frontrunners prior to this weekend, but they would also prefer an initial loan arrangement – which would be a blow to Fulham’s hopes of attracting offers close to their £20m valuation. Napoli and Fulham are understood to currently be in talks about the precise nature of a potential deal.

Anguissa, who told new Fulham head coach Marco Silva that he didn’t want to play in the Championship prior to the start of the new season, has made three appearances for the Whites so far this season. The 25 year-old has played in 66 games during his four years in south west London and excelled on loan with Villarreal in 2019/20.

Anguissa wants to leave Fulham

Andre Frank Anguissa was left out of Fulham’s opening Championship fixture against Middlesbrough yesterday because he wants to leave the club, according to a report from the Athletic’s Peter Rutzler.

The Cameroonian midfielder told Marco Silva of his desire to leave Craven Cottage on Friday and the Fulham head coach decided to omit the 25 year-old out of his matchday squad. Silva has been clear that he only wants to use players who are fully committed to Fulham’s aim of returning to the top flight at the first attempt and Anguissa made clear that he does not wish to play in the Championship.

He had previously been loaned to Villarreal when Fulham were relegated from the Premier League and, despite playing in the final pre-season friendly against Charlton Athletic last month, now looks set to exit before the end of the summer transfer window. Fulham rejected a loan offer from Valenica last week – largely because the Spanish side were not willing to pay a loan fee for Anguissa’s services – and reports from the Italian press have suggested that Roma are monitoring the midfielder closely. The Londoners are rumoured to holding out for an offer that meets their £21m valuation.

Australian midfielder Tyrese Francois made his first league start in Anguissa’s absence, playing more than seventy minutes in central midfield as Silva’s side started their Championship campaign with a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough.

Everton join Anguissa race

Everton are mulling a summer move for Fulham midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, according to reports.

The Cameroon midfielder is apparently not keen on plying his trade in the Championship this season, having previously been loaned to Villarreal when the Whites dropped out of the top flight before. Fulham have already rejected a loan bid from Valencia – that is understood not to have included a loan fee – and Serie A side Roma were credited with a strong interest in the 25 year-old in Italian press reports this morning.

Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Toffees are keen to bring Anguissa to Merseyside. Carlo Ancelotti is understood to be a keen admirer of the former Marseilles midfielder and Everton have retained the interest after the appointment of Rafa Benitez, who is keen to add to his options in the centre of the park. Fulham are believed to sell Anguissa if a suitor is willing to meet their £21m valuation.

Roma eyeing up move for Anguissa

Roma are considering a move to sign Fulham midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on a permanent basis, according to reports from Italy this morning.

Il Messaggero claims that Fulham’s Cameroonian midfielder is not keen on playing in the Championship and would welcome an opportunity away from Craven Cottage. Fulham yesterday rejected a loan offer from Valencia and Roma have added Anguissa to a shortlist for new midfielders that also includes Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Denis Zakaria, Thomas Delaney and Teun Koopmeiners, according to Gazetta dello Sport.

The Italian sports newspaper claims that Roma would be prepared to pay around £17m for Anguissa, whilst Fulham are holding out for an offer closer to their £21m valuation. Anguissa, who has 68 Fulham appearances in two seasons in London sandwiched between a more successful loan spell at Villarreal, started last Saturday’s friendly against Charlton – but getting him off the wage bill permanently would ease the Whites’ FFP worries. Luiz remains the Giallorrosi’s main target, but Villa are currently uninterested in parting with the Brazilian.

Fulham turn down Valencia loan move for Anguissa

Fulham have rejected Valencia’s bid to take Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on loan, according to Sky Sports News.

Anguissa, who starred in a previous loan spell with Villareal following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League in 2019, has featured prominently for Marco Silva’s side during pre-season and has still has two years to run on his current contract at Craven Cottage. The Cameroon international made more of an impression on the top flight last season than during a disappointing first campaign with the Cottagers and remains one of the club’s most prised assets.

It is understood that Fulham rejected Valenica’s loan move, which didn’t include a loan fee, out of hand. It remains to seen whether the Spanish side will return with an improved offer or if other European sides will move for Anguissa ahead of the end of the transfer window.
