Fulham have accepted Napoli’s loan offer for midfielder Andre Frank Anguissa, according to reports from Italy this morning.
Sky Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio says that the Serie A club have struck a deal with Fulham for the Cameroonian international, which includes an option to buy. The 25 year-old is expected in Italy today for a medical ahead of the proposed transfer.
Anguissa, who has made 66 appearances in four years at Craven Cottage, told Fulham on the eve of the new season that he did not wish to play in the Championship and would prefer a move away. The Whites were hoping for interested parties, which also included Roma, to match their £20m valuation but have opted to reduce their financial fair play concerns by getting Anguissa’s hefty wages off the books before the end of the transfer window.
Pity it didn’t work out. He is a quality player who, for whatever reason, never realised his potential for Fulham. Moving him on with the current players that we do have, is not a bad move. Hopefully it will leave wriggle room to make another acquisition.
He is real quality and would have liked him to stay for next season when we return to the EPL. But that’s Ok, now maybe Grimes on his way to the Cottage got to be surely. Grimes should fit in well, he is a leader reminds me of Danny Murphy.
What a waste. Good player, but his “I’m to big for the Championship” attitude, when better players are getting on with it, is getting on my nerves. He’s not THAT good, and is he keeps demonstrating that he only plays well when he’s not having a strop, he’s never going to be considered the top player he thinks he is. Even Seri has learnt that.
Good points Andy.
If he isn’t 100% committed then best he goes. Shame though, but, like Andy says I’m not sure his attitude quite matches his ability. If we get the wages off the books and get someone like Grimes in who will want to make a mark then good deal all round. We probably have enough in midfield with HR, Seri, Onomah, Francois and perhaps Cairney but you’d have thought someone like Grimes for 3 or £4m would be sensible. 41 games to go is a lot to expect no long term injuries.
Anguissa out, Grimes in!! It would be perfect for me. We need people who want to be here, the rest can go!
Agree with all comments, it is a pity because the guy has class. But if he wants to go then thats best for us. As others have said maybe more wiggle room for an increased offer for Grimes.
Good to see humble players staying like Mitro and Champagne Charlies are better off out the club.
What a shame i thought the Big Man would stay and help Fulham return to the premiership has not got the stomach for the fight a player who thinks he’s good then he should prove it,not what we want at Fulham but frees up Space for an extra player hopefully
Am a little surprised as I had it from a v senior source that viera at palace had made it clear to the board he wanted anguissa, still it’s always disappointing to lose a quality player but players come and go but the whites go on.
He can look good on occaision but raely delivers anything, can not shoot, switches off, attitude variable. We wasted money on him and we are better off with him gone
Not a great fan of Anguissa, think he flatters to deceive, he powers through at times but his end ball is not always effective and his shooting for goal is abysmal. Josh Onamah is capable of scoring a few goals, I’m really pleased to see him back
No issue with him going. He’s a very good player but didn’t deliver enough for us in the prem and not needed this year. My only HUGE issue is the quoted deal. A loan with an option to buy for 9 million?!?! He is £20 million plus rated player with all sorts of big clubs reportedly willing to pay that so what is going on? Could have helped us to sort FFP at over £20 million and could have allowed us to get another two or three in. So disappointed with the deal if correct.
I’ve supported Fulham for 60 years. I’ve seen many good and bad players come and go.
The first time I saw anguissa play he went down like someone had shot him. 30 seconds later he got up .By that time we had lost the impetus going forward. That tended to be a trend with him. He gave the ball away in dangerous positions. Very rarely looked good. Not a team player. I could go on!!
Positive move to offload him.
Agree with comments. Basically if he don’t wanna play for FFC. Better to play someone who does. Has class but as said, final pass or shot not usually food enough.
