Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon has been shortlisted for the Premier League player of the month after an astonishing April.
The 24 year-old scored Fulham’s equaliser against champions Liverpool, sparking a sensational turnaround, and headed home a stoppage-time winner at Southampton on Saturday to keep the Whites’ European hopes alive. He also set up Rodrigo Muniz’s strike at Arsenal after coming off the bench in the second half at the Emirates Stadium at the start of the month and supplied the pass for Alex Iwobi’s opener in the SW6 derby.
Sessegnon’s magnificent month sees him justifiably nominated for the prestigious Premier League award. He will face competition from Wolverhampton wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, Newcastle United wingers Harvey Barnes and Josh Murphy, Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool and Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa.
You can vote for Sessegnon to win here until noon on Monday – with the Premier League announcing the winner on 9 May.
Win the award or not, it has been the best story of the second half of the season. I initially thought he returned to us as damaged goods and down on confidence….that was what I read from his body language and the few times he spoke on the club site. To see what he’s done and how much more assertive and confident he is now, I am thrilled we have such a quality player on our roster, especially since he was home-grown in Fulham’s academy. Its a feel-good story to add to a pretty good season.
