Marco Silva hailed the persistence of matchwinner Raul Jimenez after the Whites’ beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground this afternoon.
The Fulham head coach told Match of the Day after the final whistle:
“It’s great to see him back at that level again after that bad incident when he was at Wolves. It was tough for him to come back. In an important moment of his career, when he was struggling for goals, we showed the trust in him – and believed in him. He got used to scoring before the incident but we trusted him. From the first moment in this club he showed his hard work and his quality. It’s nice to see him score and be decisive for us.”
Apart from his invisible man performance and his woeful corners, Pereira’s sole contribution was getting fouled for the spot kick.
To add to the mystery of why Silva continues to show faith in this clown, he fought Jiminez for the right to take the penalty- even though, having needed treatment after the foul, he was required to leave the field???
I’ve been questioning his ability for months. Now I’m starting to question his sanity!
To top off his useless afternoon, he had a hissy fit when substituted.
Surely to God, it’s time to start Berge?
Sasa Lukic was our best midfielder by a mile and that includes Smith Rowe who strolled about ineffectively all afternoon.
Charles I have reached the same conclusions as you with regards to Peirera. For some time now he has not been making a worthwhile contribution and surely is not currently worth his place. Obviously Marco knows a whole lot more than me but appears to be operating on a wing and a prayer where Pereira is concerned. Hope he’s right and we are wrong.
Think we are very fortunate to be in the top 6. Let’s be honest the main factor is how the defence has performed our attack continues to be woeful and I regret the lack of goals will catch up with us. I hope we can continue to enjoy our lofty position.
Make that three. I was actually hoping the transfer rumours during the summer were true and we were selling him and using the funds to find a replacement. I would have been happy with getting Carvalho back. Didn’t like the hissy fit when he got subbed one bit.
Totally agree with the comments 100 percent still can’t see why Perreira Takes all the corners and free kicks which we never score from, did not like the hissy fit that Perreira had he forgets that Silva got him for Fulham after he was out of favour at Moan Utd for a long time ,after his return home debut everyone could see what a good player Anderson is,but the test will be next week against ManCity we will see how far we have come under Silva so the players that went missing need to step up big time and they know who they are and for once let’s match man for man I think we can
To be fair, Silva said that Perreira was supposed to be our designated penalty taker so Raul was at fault. In Marco we trust and he must see something in Andreas that we don’t. Not sure that Berge would be an improvement and he is certainly not a like for like replacement.
It is not just Perreira who is missing goal chances.
Sasa Lukic has been having a fabulous season, great performance again yesterday. Him and Tete, who seemed possessed on the right flank. Long may it continue. As for Pereira, please give the guy a break. He was not that bad yesterday, nothing extraordinary, but he played his part. Good 3 points, 2 very hard matches coming up.
I think we’re all agreed that Pereira should be given a rest. It could, fingers crossed, give his overall game a lift. Just to add his corners appear to go into the correct area but just seem to lack real penetration, or maybe, it’s the others fault for not really attacking the ball. I feel the crosses are just lobbed in without intent. He can’t be solely responsible, can he? Time to try someone else and see what happens. Who would we give the job to? Wilson is the only one who really comes to mind, but he’s not always on the pitch. Suggestions on a postcards please.
