Fulham have agreed an initial fee of £27m with Arsenal for Emile Smith Rowe, according to Sky Sports News.
The deal could rise to £34m should all add-ons be activated – making the England international potentially Fulham’s record signing. The securing of Marco Silva’s top summer transfer target – should a medical, due to take place this week, prove successful – follows hot on the heels of the return of Ryan Sessegnon to Craven Cottage on Friday.
Smith Rowe is expected to join Fulham’s pre-season training camp in Portugal, which sees the Whites take on Benfica and Sevilla on the Algarve, as soon as possible. The Arsenal academy graduate, who turned 24 yesterday, made 115 appearances and scored eighteen goals for the Gunners and has been capped three times at senior level for his country.
Fine ! Now bring a centre back, mid and a back up goalie too !!
From what we have read it appears that he didn’t want to leave Arsenal, however let’s hope he gives us 100% .Also it’s good to hear that an academy player would rather stay at the club that invested in him, unlike some we know!!
Phil, Who Who Who?? what have you heard??
I’m yet to see a player that, who has any slight potential, not be brought on by Silva. Emile has more than slight potential. Marco will get him to his best. This is great news for Fulham.
Andre and a permanent centre back and we’ll be in business. Any other gaps then I don’t think anyone will mind if we go last minute loan shopping at that point.
Dave you are right Marco is the mutts nuts.
He’s a class above what we currently have. Interesting article in The Athletic which suggests that he will come in as a left winger, playing alongside Robinson on the left flank. That is where he had the most impact in the earlier stages of his Arsenal career.
More recently, in between all of his injuries, he has been seen more as a midfield player.
So it seems, Marco Silva has a plan on how to best use him.
Hopefully, once this deal is across the line, we will see further signings: a quality number one to support Leno, a quality central defender to replace Tosin, and a hard man in midfield to replace Palhinha (though IMO there’s nobody as good, in that role, home or abroad).
I believe Jay Stansfield’s return will be akin to a new signing for us although I was disappointed to see that he only played a cameo role against Watford (but, inevitably, scored).
I would love clarity on the following: Willian (definitely gone for good?), Ream (is he staying?), Pereira (who has been busy making noises all summer about moving on)
At least, things are moving at last
