Timothy Castagne’s Belgium suffered the first shock of Euro 2024 – as they were stunned by a battling Slovakian side in Frankfurt.
The Slovaks took the lead in the seventh minute after a mistake from Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku allowed Ivan Schranz to fire Slovakia into a shock early lead. Romelu Lukaku then had two second half goals disallowed by VAR as Slovakia’s stubborn defence held firm to secure a surprise three points.
Belgium will try and get their first points on the board against Romania in Cologne in their second game on Sunday evening.
