Fulham have rejected a £29.8m bid from Bayern Munich for midfielder Joao Palhinha. The two clubs remain in discussions over a potential deal, according to the Athletic.

The German giants have revived their interest in the Portuguese international this summer with new head coach Vincent Kompany approving a new approach for the 28 year-old, who almost left Craven Cottage last summer only for a proposed deal to collapse on transfer deadline day as Fulham failed to find a replacement.

Palhinha has since signed a new contract with the Whites and Bayern’s initial bid falls well below Fulham’s valuation for the Premier League’s top tackler for this seasons in a row. With his former club Sporting Lisbon guaranteed a slice of the fee, Fulham are likely to insist upon a steeper fee if they are to allow one of Marco Silva’s key performers to depart.
