Calvin Bassey has saluted Marco Silva’s achievement at Craven Cottage – and feels Fulham’s future is very bright indeed.
The Nigerian international has enjoyed an excellent first campaign in Fulham colours having signed from Ajax last summer and helped the Whites keep a clean sheet in this afternoon’s goalless draw at Brentford.
Bassey told BBC Sport after the derby stalemate at the GTech Stadium:
“The [injury and international break] disruption didn’t help at times but we’ve all stayed focused and trusted the manager and the plan. What he’s been building has been amazing so we’re looking forward to the future. It’s important we bring those principles and carry on what the manager has built here.”
Bassey, who helped the Super Eagles reach the African Cup of Nations final earlier this year, has started all bar one of Fulham’s league fixtures since he returned from Cote d’Ivoire in January.
Good on ya, Calvin!
We need more players that are 100% committed.
Too many that aren’t and have half a mind on more money and moving on.
yes I agree. Silva was our most important signing of the season.
Another successful season with Marco guiding us. Now he needs backing from T.K to take us to the next level. Been too inconsistant this season with some brilliant performances and some that I’d rather not think about. Great signings of Bassey and Castagne, with Lukic finally showing his worth. Agree with Charles, if players don’t want to be here, we don’t want them here.
The start of the season was very unsettled and we all feared the worse. Now I ask the question: Alexander who? We have scored 4 goals less this season with 2 games to go. A reflection on the brilliant job Marco and the boys have done COYW
Totally agree with C.B., but to be totally honest, Silva has jus5 extended his contract which shows he has the club’s backing. We give too much stick to Tony Khan only because he is the chairman’s son, he has made some blunders but he is doing a good job too.
