Marco Silva has no concerns about Sasa Lukic’s mentality after the Serbian was sacrificed in his triple substitution after 33 minutes in Tuesday’s shocking defeat at Nottingham Forest.

The Fulham head coach has hailed the Serbian midfielder’s influence since becoming a regular in the engine room – and revealed that his character is a key reason why he backed the former Torino man to come good despite a slow start in SW6.

Silva said:

“We tried to anticipate his move to Fulham [before] last January. We were following him, and it was a good moment to sign him, to give him the time to adapt. Last season he had some moments but [he] was not regular [a] in the team. He was probably our best player during pre-season, playing as a No6. He’s a fantastic guy to work with. He’s had enough patience to wait for his moment, and now he’s playing really well.”
