Harry Wilson set up two goals as Wales reached the Euro 2024 play-off finals with a demolition of Finland at the Cardiff City Stadium this evening.
Rob Page’s side beat Finland 4-1 to progress to a showdown against Poland on Tuesday evening in the Welsh capital – with the winners qualifying for the championships in Germany this summer. Fulham winger Wilson, deployed as an attacking midfielder in an adventurous Welsh line-up, saw an early shot saved by the Finnish goalkeeper but David Brooks tucked away the follow up to give the home side a dream start after only three minutes.
Wilson then backheeled a free-kick into the path of former Fulham full back Neco Williams, who found the top corner, and Wales showed great character to respond to conceding to Teemu Pukki just before half time, by restoring their two-goal cushion early in the second half through Brennan Johnson. Former Fulham loanee Dan James rounded off the scoring on a famous night in Cardiff.
