Harry Wilson suffered penalty heartache as Wales missed out on a place at Euro 2024 after losing a penalty shoot-out to Poland following a goalless draw in Cardiff tonight.

The Fulham winger delivered another excellent creative display in the play-off final but couldn’t help Rob Page’s side break the deadlock in a cagey affair. Wilson scored his penalty, but former Fulham loanee Dan James saw his spot-kick saved by Wojciech Szczesny as Poland booked a place at this summer’s finals in Germany.

Fulham full-back Timothy Castagne played the full ninety minutes as Belgium came close to recording their first win over England at Wembley. An equaliser from Jude Bellingham deep into stoppage time ensured that Gareth Southgate’s side came away with a share of the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Marek Rodak made the very most of a rare start for Slovenia by producing a superb save to keep out a penalty from Erling Haaland in a 1-1 draw with Norway.

Andreas Pereira made another eye-catching appearance off the break in Brazil’s 3-3 draw with Spain in Madrid. Brazil were 2-1 down when the Fulham attacking midfielder was introduced as a half-time substitute. Pereira’s corner led to an equaliser from Endrick and, after Rodri’s penalty had put Spain back in front, Lucas Paqueta levelled it up again from twelve yards in added time.

Alex Iwobi earned another Nigeria cap but couldn’t prevent the Super Eagles from being comfortably beaten by Mali, in a match that Calvin Bassey missed having returned to Motspur Park after picking up a knock during the international break.

Sasa Lukic played the first half of Serbia’s 1-0 win over Cyprus. On-loan striker Armando Broja featured as Albania lost 1-0 in Sweden, whilst Kevin Mbabu was a second half substitute in Switzerland’s narrow victory over the Republic of Ireland.
