Fulham have suggested that they may scale back their dialogue with the Fulham Supporters’ Trust, suggesting that they will favour further dialogue with the soon-to-be-established Fan Advisory Board (FAB).
The development is detailed in the notes from the Trust’s latest meeting with Fulham Football Club, where chief executive Alistair Mackintosh queried the methodology of what he felt was a ‘flawed’ Trust survey that revealed only 6 per cent of fans felt Fulham had adequately responded to concerns about ticket prices. Mackintosh also suggested that the Trust had not fully appreciated the scale of investment made by chairman Shahid Khan to keep Fulham competitive.
A reduction in the frequency of meeting between club officials and representatives of the Trust, the democratically elected voice of Fulham fans, would contravene a memorandum of understanding signed by the parties in December 2017, which committed the club to a monthly meeting. The club’s fan advisory board, developed following instructions from the Premier League, will be handpicked by Fulham officials following an application process advertised on Fulham’s official website.
There’s no value in meetings when the club simply isn’t engaged in the process and isn’t interested in any points that the Trust puts forward. It shouldn’t have come to this and I’ve no idea whether blame attaches to the Trust in any way but it seems to me that the club intends to act as it pleases no matter the criticism.
Maybe current playing success justifies this to them but I suspect that constant abuse of TK in particular by certain posters on message boards may have led to a lack of empathy with supporters.
A shame and long term probably a mistake.
I doubt that TK is going to be upset by adverse comments from a few on this board, he is a business man and it would bounce off him Do you really think that he/they had any empathy with the fans? They are here for the money and the money only. If they were serious about football do you think we would have flats developed at our ground when the space could have been given over to revenue seating? You need to be aware what the situation is with foreign investment. Obviously the Khans are not sport-swashing but here is a resume of what they are used to in the US. First, you need to buy a seat license pick an “ok” license that is available – $17K EACH (one time charge) these are also transferable to family or in wills & trusts and that gives you the right to buy a season ticket. A season tickets in this section are around $2500 each – $5000. Sounds good aside from the required seat license? BUT WAIT!! In 2024 there are 9 games not 19 = $278 per game/seat. Add in $45/car to park. The Eagles boast a 99% renewal rate and there are over 40,000 names on the waiting list? BTW – A beer is $15 (12 GBP). A sell out at Lincoln Financial Field is 67,594 – they have been sold out for years. Not sure of the figures for the Jaguars.
Sport’s become big business – rape the fans Starting in the 60’s with TV revenues and free agency. We are still a couple of years behind the curve but catching up quickly. Football is not what it was, it will never be the peoples game anymore, the genie is will not be put back in the bottle. This madness/sadness was started by Rupert Murdoch and it is anybody’s guess where it will end.
I forgot to add that the new FAB sounds like a Russian electoral committee. Instructions and agenda from above. My past managers practiced “what down” and “how up”.This seems to be what and how down.
