Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira found it difficult to put his emotions into words when he was asked to describe how special his call-up to the Brazilian squad by new manager Dorival Junior was.

The former Manchester United attacking midfielder had recently turned down persistent approaches from Belgium, the country of his birth, because he wanted to represent Brazil, whom he had won a single cap in 2018, again and during a press conference this afternoon he became emotional when discussing his return to the national team.

“I don’t have words to say to you and everyone here about how important it is to me and my family. Everyone knows what I went through in Flamengo and how difficult my injury was at Fulham at the end of the season. It’s very gratifying to know that I’m being followed and monitored. I was very happy with Dorival’s visit [to Motspur Park], he talked to us. It’s a dream come true and I’m here to defend Brazil in the best way possible.”
