Rodrigo Muniz has spoken for the first time about how he rejected interest from overseas clubs to stay at Craven Cottage – and the Brazilian striker feels remaining at Fulham ‘was the best decision’.

The 22 year-old told ESPN Brazil:

Last year was a difficult year at Middlesbrough. Then in January I got some calls from Brazil and I was thinking about coming back. But I spoke a lot with my wife, my parents, and I really wanted to be important, to score goals out here. And if I went back to Brazil it might have been difficult at the time. And today I’m sure that I made the best decision at the time.”

Muniz has largely been an understudy to Aleksandar Mitrovic and then Raul Jimenez at Fulham, but has taken an opportunity to shine after the latter’s injury with both hands in the past fortnight. He scored his first Premier League goal in the 2-2 draw at Burnley earlier this month and then bagged a brilliant brace to seal a vital three points against Bournemouth last weekend.
