Sebastien Haller turned down a loan move to Fulham last night because he was not unwilling to interrupt his international duties, according to various reports.

The former West Ham forward, currently representing hosts Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations, will remain with Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season despite the Whites approaching the Bundesliga club about the 29 year-old’s availability. Dortmund were willing to do a deal – having already been involved in protracted negotiations with Besiktas over the past month – but Haller immediately rejected the proposal having been given permission to speak to the Premier League side.

Haller hit 14 goals in 54 games for the Hammers before getting his career back on track at Ajax, where he scored 47 goals in 66 games, and moving to Germany in July 2022. He has not scored a Bundesliga goal for Dortmund this term and is currently preparing for a quarter final against Mali on Saturday – having converted the third penalty in a second round shoot-out success over Senegal.
