Former Fulham centre back Alain Goma has signed up to join the first ever Craven Cottage sleepout next month to help raise funds for the award-winning Fulham Foundation.

The French centre half, a Fulham cult hero who made 152 appearances for the club between March 2001 and June 2006, still lives in Putney and is a regular watching his old club at the Cottage. Goma has been a prominent supporter of the Foundation’s work in recent years, contributing to the vital Refugee Kicks campaign, which is a cause close to his heart.

Goma told the club’s official website:

“The refugees cause touches me particularly. I don’t know if it is because of my background, having a dad originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. I’ve been visiting the sessions, meeting the participants and also help when there are tournaments at Motspur Park. Hopefully I can put a smile on people’s face.”

The Cottage sleepout will take place on Thursday 21 March and follows a successful model adopted by a number of other clubs to raise money and awareness of important local causes. You can register to take part here.
