Fulham have cooled their interest in Andre after Fluminense rejected their bid for the Brazilian international earlier in the window, according to reports this afternoon.

The Whites presented a structured offer worth a total of £35m a fortnight ago – but, despite promising to sell their vaunted holding midfielder in January and continuing negotiations with the Cottagers – Fluminense rejected the offer from the Premier League, electing to hold out for up front fee in excess of £30m. That deal hasn’t materialised and the 22 year-old will now remain in Brazil until the summer.

Fulham hold a long-term interest in the talented midfielder, who helped Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores last season as well as reaching the Club World Cup final, but suggestions that they paused their pursuit of Andre because Joao Palhinha was set to say in SW6 are wide of the mark. Marco Silva is understood to have viewed the pair as a partnership that could have taken the Cottagers to the next level – and it remains to be seen whether Fulham will revive their interest in the summer.
