Sutton United have signed Fulham defender Jay Williams on a permanent deal, the clubs have confirmed this afternoon.

The Welsh under-21 international spent four years with the Whites having opted to join Fulham rather than a host of other suitors after starring for Newport County. Williams, comfortable either at full back or in the centre of the defence, made 22 appearances for Steve Wigley’s under-21 side last term but has taken the opportunity to move on in search of regular senior footballl.

Williams, who helped Fulham’s under-18 win the league title, could go straight in the Sutton squad for their League Two fixture against Harrogate Town tomorrow night.
