Marco Silva has urged the Fulham board to reach agreement with protesting fans over ticket prices after thousands stayed away for tonight’s defeat by Newcastle United.
Fulham’s exit from the FA Cup was watched by just 18,960 supporters and Silva contrasted the sedate Craven Cottage atmosphere with the backing his side received against Liverpool on Wednesday night. He told BeinSPORT’s Carrie Brown:
“As you know, the price is not under my control. What I’d like to to have an agreement because I know that if the stadium is full, we are going to be stronger. What I can ask is for everybody to be in the same direction; everybody to be around each other, helping each other because we need the fans here. We don’t need the fans angry. We need the fans with us from the first moment until the last one like they were last Wednesday. The stadium was bouncing. It was difficult for Liverpool to deal with that situation.
It was probably a little bit easier for Newcastle, but I know that if the stadium is fall and the fans are in a good mood, they are with the team, it is going to be much more difficult for the opposition and much better for our players. What I would like to see is clear … an agreement or something between the clubs and the fans for everybody to be happy because we need them behind us”
No chance with that one Marco, brick walls are more responsive than the Khan’s. PS hows the recruitment going?
Agree totally with the point you raise, appears to be a growing void between the regular fan base and the Board.
Not only on pricing but ST holders not getting ready access to their normal seats and the booking not being loaded on to ST card. The paper bar code replacements hopeless at turnstiles adding to frustration.
Nothing wrong at trying to attract new people but not at the expense and inconvenience of loyal and committed fans.
My son & I attended as always but a lot of our companion ST holders decided not to.
I think the fan base know that the Club needs to be financially sound for us to stabilise in the Premier and move forward, it is not the fans fault that the anticipated income both directly and via third part activity from the Riverside stand has for whatever reason not been forthcoming
Simply not joined up thinking around the Boatd table and is running the risk of alienating loyal fans
May I widen this debate? I wonder how often Mackintosh or the Kahn’s stray form the Riverside and visit the Johnny Haynes stand?
As usual Hammy Enders we decided to try the Johnny Haynes stand for the Liverpool game. After struggling through an entrance that was built when people hardly ate anything. The seating area was a disgrace. Packed with bin liners it made the passages a trip hazard and so subsequently a fire hazard. How the fire officer passed the stand for use I have no idea. My grandson was visibly shocked by the state of the place, likened the scene as if being abandoned to rot. No leg room in the seats, my grandson is 13 and just fitted his legs in but my son and I had to sit with our legs spread. We had and interrupted view due to the pillars in place and paid £40 for the privilege.
I know this is a listed building but honestly someone should turn up on a Sunday with hammers and screwdrivers and take the rubbish out. Pay the fine for doing so and we can progress.
My family have been going to Fulham for 70 years. This is the first season none of us has a season, yet 5 of us went to the fa cup game. Atmosphere was the worst I have heard in terms of no one knew any chants (only come on Fulham) or could call out our players names. Visited my parents old block C in J Haynes stand. Only saw one old face and he was located in a totally different seat from usual. Kids tickets may have only been £5 yet how is no home atmosphere meant to build an allegiance to our club.
NO RESPECT FOR THE FANS. Fulham FC are not the Khans the supporters are Fulham FC
My maths are not that good, but I bet if you had reduced the ticket prices for Season Ticket holders to say £25 you wouldn’t have been out of pocket. The ground would have been full. As an over 65 season ticket holder I still had to pay £30. What did I get for my money. Sat there surrounded by tourists who didn’t know the words to any songs and Newcastle fans mingled with us. Disgraceful.
Investment needed NOW. Saturday shows we don’t have the player resources to compete on 3 fronts. Marco does wonders with what he has to work with. We have an acclaimed Academy. Where are they. We never finish games well. Why not bring some of them on for the last 20 minutes and help out Dad’s Army
