Fulham are keeping a close eye on Luton Town defender Teden Mengi as ‘one of the future,’ according to various reports this morning.

The former Manchester United centre back has made a real impression on the Premier League since moving to Kenilworth Road earlier this summer. Despite being initially viewed as back up within the Hatters squad, Mengi has become a regular in Rob Edwards’ side, starting their last eleven league matches – and scoring his first Luton goal in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The 21 year-old helped Luton kept their first clean sheet of the campaign in a surprise win over Newcastle before Christmas – with Fulham and Crystal Palace monitoring his progress, according to the Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano.

A deal would likely need to be done in the summer at the earliest, with Edwards and the Luton hierarchy having already publicly stated that they will not be weakening their squad over the coming month. Fulham will certainly be looking at introducing younger defenders with American veteran Tim Ream having been a mainstay of Marco Silva’s back four since the Portuguese coach took over from Scott Parker in 2021 and Tosin Adarabioyo out of contract at the end of the season.
