Fulham are considering whether to revive their interest in Armando Broja after Chelsea opened up the possibility of the Albanian international leaving Stamford Bridge permanently this month.
The Blues had rebuffed Fulham’s enquiry about a potential loan deal in November with the player himself keen to fight for his place under Mauricio Pochettino. The 22 year-old’s only goals this season have come against Fulham at Craven Cottage in October and in the FA Cup win over Preston North End earlier this month. He failed to score against the Whites in last weekend’s SW6 derby and was substituted early in the second half.
Broja’s chances of regular game-time at Chelsea will diminish with the earlier than expected return from injury of Christopher Nkunku and after Nicolas Jackson finishes his international duty at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal. The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed this afternoon that Broja’s departure would not be contingent on Chelsea signing a replacement, with the club seeking to streamline their squad in the closing weeks of the January transfer window.
Marco Silva is keen to supplement his striking options this month if possible and both Carlos Vinicius and Rodgrio Muniz have been heavily linked with returns to Brazil. Fulham will face competition from West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as a number of continental clubs.
