Fabio Carvalho is a step closer to making a Fulham return this month after Liverpool cancelled the attacking midfielder’s loan spell at Red Bull Leipzig.

The 21 year-old midfielder is heading back to England after a disappointing six months in Germany, having made just fifteen appearances at Red Bull. Carvalho started just three games during a loan spell that has designed to help reignite his career after he fell out of favour under Jurgen Klopp last season – and Liverpool are now keen for the Portuguese under-21 international to finish the campaign at an English club on loan.

Carvalho is reportedly open to returning to Craven Cottage for the remainder of the season in a reunion with Marco Silva. The talented number ten shone as the Whites won promotion from the Championship in Silva’s first campaign in charge – with Carvalho scoring eleven goals in 38 games. Fulham are confident that they would be able to see off interest from a number of Championship clubs, including Leicester City, should the structure of any proposed loan deal suit them.
