Marco Silva has called on Fulham become ‘more consistent’ as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of Sunday’s late defeat at Liverpool when they face Nottingham Forest tomorrow night.

The Portuguese head coach has focused on the positives of Fulham’s excellent showing at Anfield – rather than dwelling on the fact that his side conceded two goals within two minutes having gone 3-2 up through Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s late header. Silva told his pre-match press conference at Motspur Park this afternoon:

“We didn’t get the points we deserved, but we took the positives from the game. We scored three goals at Anfield. We have had some games where we deserved more. I believe we are more capable to do this now; it is part of the process of the season. We have to do the right steps to be more consistent.”

He hailed the outstanding display of left back Antonee Robinson, who kept Mo Salah quiet after producing an assist for the third game in succession.

“What a performance from him. He was at a high, high level. I am pleased for him because some games before, he probably wasn’t at his best so it has been good to see him react.”

Silva has warned his Fulham squad to expect a reaction from Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest, who head for the capital having lost three games in a row.

“We really know how they are feeling. Before the Wolves match, we had back-to-back defeats. Not three in a row, but we know how not good results can impact a football team. Even if you have quality, even if you know what you are capable to do, even if it’s clear what we want to do, the confidence plays always a big part on a performance and results.

We know that we can take some confidence from them, but at the same time it can give them the will and the desire to react and to show a reaction. You have always the two parts of the coin, and I really believe that they will come here to react. They want to react. Of course, in terms of confidence, probably they are not at that level if you are winning football matches in a row, but I think any team in this league knows that it is not easy to keep the consistency in terms of winning ways.

Sometimes come the bad results and you have to react, and for sure they are going to try to do it, because they have quality.”
