The East Anglia Daily Times reveals this morning that Championship promotion contenders Ipswich Town have made Fulham forward Jay Stansfield one of their January transfer targets as they seek to strengthen their striking options.
Town are believed to have submitted an enquiry to the Whites about buying the 22 year-old striker, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City. Fulham rate the England under-21 international highly and will not countenance a permanent departure for Stansfield, who has scored five goals in eighteen appearances since moving to St. Andrew’s.
The Tiverton-born striker, under contract at Craven Cottage until 2027, spent most of last season on loan at his boyhood club Exeter City, scoring nine goals in League One, after making three Premier League appearances for the Cottagers at the start of the campaign.
Why would Fulham want to sell a great academy prospect for a derisory sum to Ipswich.
He is one for thg=e future. Let him finish his loan at Birmingham and add him to our first team squad next season
I think Jay is ready for the premier league. His time at Birmingham has been a great experience and I’m sure he is grateful for it. His next step ideally is as 2nd striker for Fulham. He would get lots of match time at the highest level and would be playing for a manager and team who play total football for fun. It is an opportunity Jay I’m sure would grasp and in a year or two be 1st choice striker with the world at his feet.
FFC cannot let JS go. I would bring him back this season because what we have available is not much better. Every time I have seen him play in the EPL he has always done well. I do not understand why FFC does not have faith in the young man…… let him fly!!!
