Fulham forward Jay Stansfield made his England under-21 debut this afternoon, coming on as a substitute as Lee Carsley’s side beat Serbia in their European Championship qualifier.
The striker, currently on loan at Championship side Birmingham City, replaced Liam Delap midway through the second half of the Group F clash and was unlucky not to open his account almost immediately hitting the post from close range after some clever movement. Stansfield could feature again for the under-21s against Northern Ireland at Goodison Park on Tuesday night having been promoted from the Men’s Elite under-20 squad due to injuries.
