Marco Silva believes Raul Jimenez can become a regular goalscorer after scoring his first Fulham goal at Aston Villa before the international break.

The Mexican international opened his Cottagers account with a simple finish at Villa Park – which ended a goal drought that stretched back to March 2022 – and Silva believes the striker, who has struggled to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic in the early months of his Craven Cottage career, will feel a ‘weight off his back’ against his former club on Monday.

The Fulham boss told his pre-match press conference earlier today:

“It was really important for him first of all. We lost the game so it’s not the same feeling when a player has scored a goal and you lost the game. He is always trying to help the team. Definitely, we are going to see more confidence for sure. But now it’s up to him to keep working hard and to be more confident in certain moments around the box because he has the capacity to do it. He has the quality to do it as well.”
