Bernd Leno has been left out of Germany’s squad for their forthcoming international fixtures because he is due to have an operation on his nose.

The Fulham goalkeeper was absent from the party picked by Julian Nagelsmann for the matches against Turkey and Austria later this month and has been replaced by RB Leipzig’s Janis Blaswich having informed the DFB that he will be having surgery on an unspecified nose complaint, according to SportBuzzer.

The 31 year-old has excelled since leaving Arsenal last summer, keeping eleven clean sheets in 48 games for Marco Silva’s side, and had been recalled to the national team squad earlier this year. Leno hasn’t added to his nine senior caps since 2021 but has previously stressed his desire to return to the German squad for the home European Championships next summer.
