Marco Silva will return to Goodison Park next month in the League Cup quarter finals after his Fulham side were drawn against Everton having eased past Ipswich at Portman Road this evening.

The Whites won their opening Premier League fixture of this season in the blue half of Merseyside with Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s second-half strike and some brilliance from Bernd Leno in goal securing a narrow 1-0 win. Silva managed the Toffees in sixty matches having been appointed in May 2018, four months after his departure from Watford. The Portuguese head coach was sacked in December 2019 after a heavy defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Everton are currently fifteenth in the top flight having won at West Ham on Sunday and Sean Dyche’s side beat his former club Burnley 3-0 to reach the last eight this evening. Fulham have never progressed beyond the quarter finals of the League Cup, having been beaten after losing an epic on penalties at Leicester City in 2000 and being beaten in extra-time by Liverpool the following season.

A precise date for Fulham’s trip to Goodison Park will be confirmed in the coming days with the quarter-finals scheduled to take place in the week commencing on Monday 18 December.
